Verónica Fernandes is a Post Doc researcher interested in using genetics to infer the past and evolution of human populations as well as to evaluate the genetic susceptibility to diseases. She did her PhD at the University of Leeds, UK, on characterizing the genetic diversity of Arabian Peninsula populations. Under her current participation in the DENFREE project (Dengue research Framework for Resisting Epidemics in Europe), she is evaluating the ancestry influence on the human susceptibility to dengue fever. She is the first author of 2 and a co-author of 12 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, having an h-index of 13.
