HYBRID LABS ON TRANSDISCIPLINARITY: KNOWLEDGE THROUGH EXPERIENCE

Best practices book (IO4) and Conference Proceedings

The experiences of a three-year project, the Hybrid Lab Network, were distilled into this book. In it you can find the project philosophy and aims, it’s methodology and approach to STEAM education, but most importantly a reflection on the advantages and challengers of this experience.

The book includes an overview of the toolbox developed and explored during this process, as well as, a presentation of the pilot courses created.

One of the Hybrid Lab Network main outcomes was the development of five multidisciplinary pilot STEAM courses for Higher Education.

The project and this book culminated in a reflection on Hybrid education, questioning the concepts and definitions of STEAM, the possibilities and barriers for transdisciplinarity in Academia, the challenges and opportunities of academic and non-academic institutional collaboration.

These discussions and more were centre stage on the project’s final conference “STEAM and the future of education”. Therefore, the book also includes the conference proceedings with the contributions of several experts, researchers and practitioners in the area.
