Lucja Lange

Institute of Sociology, University of Lodz

She works at the Institute of Sociology, University of Lodz. She is academic teacher and researcher as well as a photographer.

She is a graduate in Theatre Studies (2004), Ethnology and Culture Anthropology (2015) and the study of animal psychology (2018). The transdisciplinary approach is crucial in her work. In her recent research she studies: the experience of parents’ bereavement processes in Poland; and the experience of Polish cancer patients’ suffering (along with the phenomenon of cancertainment in digital/blog appearances). Her scientific interests focus on diversity issues, gender studies, animal studies and death studies, but not only – she is interested also on contemporary environmental social movements. She contributed in publishing two books about different aspects of homelessness (2016, 2017). She is a member of Polish collective – the Institute of Good Death – and an international collective for Radical Death Studies. She is also a member of the European Association for Critical Animal Studies and Polish Section for Interspecies Relations under the umbrella of the Polish Sociological Association.
