Sophie Brajon

Laval University, Québec, Canada

Sophie Brajon is an ethologist researcher specialised in the impact of living conditions on the behaviour and welfare of domestic animals, mainly pigs, mice and horses. Sophie has a background in behavioural ecology (Bachelor and Master degrees in France) and she holds a PhD in applied ethology from the Laval University (Québec, Canada, 2015) on the impact of the experience with humans on the perception of humans, cognition and emotional states of weaned piglets.

Her research focuses on the human-animal relationship, animal emotions and cognition (perception, learning, memory), social behaviour and relationships, environmental enrichment, perinatal stress and mortality.

In parallel to her research activities, she is involved in knowledge transfer to kids and students, professionals (farmers, technicians) and everyone interested or simply curious about animal minds. She is a recurrent teacher in animal behaviour and welfare at Laval University (Québec, Canada).”

You can say that I am currently affiliated to “Laval University, Québec, Canada” as postdoctoral researcher but I will move soon to France. I do not know yet who will be my next employer.
