CONSORTIUM

AALTO UNIVERSITY, FINLAND
Aalto University is a multidisciplinary university, committed to identifying and solving societal challenges and building an innovative future. Aalto University has six schools with nearly 20 000 students and over 4 000 employees (2018). QS World University Rankings ranked Aalto University's art and design seventh best. We focus on learning through practical assignments and projects. Students create human centered environments for living, well-being, learning and working. The Aalto School of Arts, Design and Architecture is a Nordic leader in higher education for design, fashion, games, media, architecture, film, art education and art. The focuses of research in Aalto ARTS are in design, digital media, art education and architecture. Aalto ARTS has extensive experience participating in European projects.

ALMA MATER EUROPAEA, SLOVENIA
ALMA MATER EUROPAEA Institutum Studiorum Humanitatis – Graduate School of Humanities, Ljubljana (AMEU-ISH) was founded with the aim to complement the existing opportunities for postgraduate education at quality-comparable standards and equivalent programs in Slovenian and wider academic area in the field of humanities. The AMEU-ISH is working under the European Academy of Science and Arts and its scope of work is Education and research in the Humanism, study programs on all Bolonian degree, developing new programs in Digital Humanities, where specially ICT tools and new technologies are integrated such as Artificial Intelligence with Big Data, Web science, using modern visualization tools for European heritage. Moreover, Creativity, Design thinking and skills of Entrepreneurship are integrated as the core pillars of the Digital Humanities module for students to grasp the knowledge and skills of digitization and era for research.

IBMC/ i3S, PORTUGAL
IBMC - Instituto de Biologia Molecular e Celular is a non-profit private association and is part of the i3S consortium headed by the University of Porto that brings together three research institutions and researchers from several schools of University of Porto.
i3S results from a long term collaboration between IBMC (for this project, IBMC represents the consortium), Instituto de Engenharia Biomédica (INEB), and Instituto de Patologia e Imunologia Molecular da Universidade do Porto (IPATIMUP).
i3S focuses on three Integrative Research Programs: i) Cancer; ii) Host Interaction and Response; iii) Neurobiology and Neurologic Diseases. The transdisciplinary character of i3S is achieved by promoting projects addressing questions that require the participation of basic and applied sciences.

STICHTING WAAG SOCIETY, THE NETHERLANDS
Waag: society and technology is a pioneer in the field of digital media. Over the past 25 years, the foundation has developed into an institution of international stature, a platform for artistic research and experimentation, and has become both a catalyst for events and a breeding ground for cultural and social innovation.
Waag uses the method of Public Research for experimental and interdisciplinary research together with the engaged public. Artists, creatives and end-users have a central position and a large influence on the final result: Users-as-Designers. The classic approach of science and the standard model of research and development is enhanced by this method that cross-links arts, culture and science. Public Research creates applications suited to the needs and possibilities of users and is related to participatory design, rapid prototyping, practice-based research and tinkering.

ESAD Matosinhos
Escola Superior de Artes e Design de Matosinhos (ESAD). ESAD - School of Arts and Design, founded in 1989 in Matosinhos, has been betting from the beginning on quality teaching in the areas of design and the arts and in close relation with civil society, industry and the market. It also sought to combine academic curricular teaching with the stimulation of open cycles of conferences, exhibitions and workshops and to establish dynamic partnerships with institutions and companies, national or foreign, that enhance the research and future employability of its students. It has also bet on internationalisation as a strategy for scientific and pedagogical affirmation, at national and international level.
ESAD-IDEA Research in Art and Design is an ESAD – College of Art and Design Research Unit created in 2013 and oriented for fundamental and applied research, consultancy, programming and service delivery in the area of design and art.

CULTIVAMOS CULTURA
Cultivamos Cultura is a platform for experimentation and development of shared knowledge in the theory and practice of science, technology and contemporary art. In other words, Cultivamos Cultura provides conditions to foster your creativity. Cultivamos Cultura organizes activities in the areas of production, dissemination, research, education and exhibition. It is also part of the association’s mission to contribute to a strong sense of cultural identity by fostering the generation of bonds with the local community and environment. The venue is located in an old farm house at the village of São Luís, within the Southwest Alentejo Natural Park, on the Atlantic coast of Portugal, approximately 200 Km south of Lisbon. Cultivamos Cultura hosts resident creators for periods up to 4 months, curates and produces art exhibitions related to new media and experimental art practices.
